President's Message

Dear Friends,

I am honored to represent you as the president of our noble Association CAPIH, initially started in 2005 by a group of founding members. The first annual conference was held in Toronto in June of 2006 and then in Vancouver, as well as Niagara on the lake. CAPIH has a significant number of physicians of Indian Heritage in Canada from India and all across the world that are providing care to Canadian citizens. Our Association is a forum to facilitate and enable Indian Canadian physicians to excel in patient care, research, teaching and to pursue their professional aspirations and community care across Canada.

The goal of this organization is to unite all physicians of Indian Heritage from across Canada and uphold the highest standard of professionalism and practice of medicine in addition to advancing knowledge through continuing medical education.

CAPIH has formed provincial Chapters in a number provinces across Canada. The goal is to form a provincial chapter in each province which will strengthen our unity and develop new visions for our organization.

With the help of provincial chapters, CAPIH is to start a clinical observership program for new IMGs waiting for the residency program. This program will help IMGs familiarize themselves with the Canadian Health care system, help them to take exams and enable them to enter into training programs or practice.

CAPIH has been registered as a charitable foundation by the Government which provides a forum for CAPIH to enhance charitable activities in Canada, India and across the Globe. CAPIH has already started its activities by providing some scholarships to medical students and First Nation students. For the charitable foundation to grow, member support and participation is of paramount importance.

I hope to gain your support as we work together to strengthen our association by increasing membership and active participation in developing the programs of CAPIH.
