CAPIH's Charitable Foundation
The CAPIH Charitable Foundation is the arm of the Canadian Association of the Physicians of Indian Heritage. It was established to carry out charitable activities. It emphasizes compassion and care for the impoverished, homeless and
disadvantaged in education and/or healthcare. The objects outlined summarize the activities the charity expects to get involved in.

To work towards the eradication of disease, hunger and poverty in Canada and around the developing world;

To provide basic medical care to under serviced populations in Canada (i.e. First Nation Peoples) and in the developing world;

To assist in developing programs for disease prevention (i.e. immunization programs for children) and health promotion (i.e. AIDS awareness) in the rural setting in the developing world;

To provide essential medications and equipment to publicly funded hospitals, health care & charitable institutions;

To assist in developing primary health care centres/clinics/hospitals in the developing world where needed;

To provide financial or physician medical support to individuals aff ected by natural disaster locally and internationally;

To finance research projects, electives, internships & fellowships in Canadian medical schools which have the objective of training individuals to improve medical services in Canada and abroad;

To provide scholarships to medical students and residents of Indo- Canadian heritage for the purpose of providing volunteer medical services in the developing world;
Dr. Kempe Gowda, the former President of CAPIH, was the first donner to the CAPIH Charitable Foundation with a generous contribution of $2001.00.
