About CAPIH
CAPIH's Vision

To be the voice for the dreams and aspirations as well as the means for recognition of outstanding contributions both in medicine and in community activities of Canadian Physicians of Indian Heritage.

To serve as a means to encourage and facilitate our younger generation in reaching their full potential.

To promote Provincial, National and International collaboration of Physicians of Indian Heritage in providing excellence in healthcare and serving the community.
CAPIH's Mission
-
Encourage the members in development of health policies consistent with CAPIH's value system of compassion, integrity and commitment and to engage in an advisory role and promote the adoption of such policies by the appropriate governments.

Provide guidance and assistance to the children of CAPIH members for entrance into the healthcare system and to facilitate integration of International Medical Graduates (IMG's) to the Canadian system.

To be the umbrella organization for all associations of Physicians of Indian Heritage in representing their interests consistent with CAPIH's vision to the appropriate governing bodies.

To provide networking opportunities to facilitate both professional and community growth.

To facilitate engagement and community activities to provide assistance to the underprivileged and those in need.

How you can support CAPIH

Become a member and get involved in CAPIH's activities, those which are already ongoing and those which are of specific interests to its members.

To encourage every Physician of Indian heritage – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh , and every other region of the world - to be not only a member, but actively participate and promote CAPIH's goals.
CAPIH's Accomplishments
CAPIH has awarded two bursaries to students at The University of Ottawa who are educationally deserving but experiencing financial difficulty in pursuing a medical graduate degree.
CAPIH raised funds and a donati on to the village of Bidada in Kutch India was awarded in order to facilitate better living opportunities for its residents.
CAPIH'S Expansion Across Canada

The Newfoundland Chapter was formed on June 25th by Dr. Joseph Kurian.

The Prince Edward Island Physicians have been contacted to form their Chapter.

Dr. Joseph Thavundayil is organizing the Chapter in Quebec.
-
Dr. Gopinath and Dr. Cheema are organizing the Chapter in B.C.
-
Dr. Yadav is organizing the Northern Ontario Chapter.
-
Dr. Roy and Dr. Prayaga are organizing Chapters in Brantford, Ontario and Hamilton, Ontario.

Dr. Sunil Patel is organizing Chapter in in Manitoba as well as the Western Provinces.
-
Dr. Kempe Gowda, the past President of CAPIH is promoting the Chapter in his province of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Sangita Patel from Brampton Ontario is looking after recruitment for South Western Ontario as well as the Medical Students and Residents.

Two Retired Physicians who have devoted part of their spare time to assist with membership recruitment are Dr. Mehta from St. Catharines Ontario and Dr. Prakesh from Windsor, Ontario.
